Does VoxChimp upload my audio?

No. Dictation, transcription, and translation all run on your Mac via WhisperKit (with Apple Speech as a fallback). Audio never leaves your machine, and there is no account or sign-up to use them.

What is sent to an AI provider in Agent Mode?

Only text. When you ask a chimp to rewrite, summarise, or transform something, VoxChimp sends your voice command and any selected or clipboard text to the provider you chose (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Grok, GitHub Copilot, or a local Ollama / LM Studio). Audio is never sent. Pair Agent Mode with a local model to keep everything on your Mac.

Where are my provider API keys stored?

In the macOS Keychain, locally on your Mac, marked non-syncable so iCloud Keychain does not replicate them across devices. We never see, transmit, or store your API keys.

Can I use Agent Mode entirely offline?

Yes, with a local provider. Set up Ollama or LM Studio, optionally pair it with SearXNG for local web search, and Agent Mode works without any cloud service. Cloud providers are opt-in, not required.

Which Macs can run VoxChimp?

macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel. The real-time translation feature uses Apple's on-device Translation framework, which requires macOS 15 Sequoia.
